Dog Clinic

If you are thinking of buying or adopting a dog, it is really important to consider what breed and size of dog is right for your family and how much exercise the dog will require. If the dog is a pure breed/pedigree, you will also need to be aware of any breed specific health problems and ensure that the puppy’s parents have been tested for these. e.g. Hip Dysplasia in the Labrador.

Puppies can have their first vaccination at 8 weeks of age and will need the second vaccination at 10 weeks. Following this a booster is required annually. Vaccines ensure your dog is protected from distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus and parainfluenza. At the first vaccine appointment we offer 4 weeks free Pet Plan insurance and a puppy pack which includes a free Advocate treatment, which protects against fleas, worms, mites and lungworm.

Due to the advances in veterinary treatment and technologies available to treat your pet, veterinary fees can be expensive. We believe that life-long pet insurance is essential for your dog, as payment is in full at time of treatment. This is claimed back through your insurance policy.

It is important that you dog carries some form of identification,  in the event that your dog is lost or stolen. We encourage owners to get their animal’s microchipped, this becomes compulsory in April 2016. The microchip transmits a unique number when scanned, to identify your dog’s details on a central database.

Neutering your dog will stop any unwanted pregnancies and help prevent any reproductive health related problems later in life. We can neuter your pet from 6 months old of age. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment or to discuss this.
