Armac Nurse Representing Great Britain
Sarah-Jayne Evans Bsc(Hons) RVN is one of our nurses at Armac Vets and in her time off is part of the women’s white water rafting team Red Rose Rafting. The team was formed in 2009 by a group of friends that really enjoyed outdoor activities. They are based throughout Lancashire and the North of England. With the adrenaline of white water rafting and team mentality they have taken part in competitions held by British Rafting. These events take place throughout the year and are held at a number of white water centres in the UK including the Cardiff White Water Centre and the Olympic Lee Valley White Water Centre in London
On the final weekend of February the British Rafting Selection was held at Lee Valley. The competition was to determine which teams will represent Great Britain in future International Events. The competition consisted of 4 elements: Sprint, Head to Head, Slalom and Endurance all which had aspects of flat water and white water.
After paddling very hard throughout the weekend they were successful at gaining the number 2 spot in the open women’s category. This entities them to represent Great Britain in the European Championships in Bosnia 19th -24th May.
They are currently training hard and in search for funding and sponsorship, due to the nature of the sport it is a self-funded competition.
