Veterinary Care For Your Pet

We will usually recommend vaccinations for kittens at 9 and 12 weeks age,
immunising against:

• Feline leukaemia
• Feline infectious enteritis - otherwise known as panleuocopaenia
• Cat flu
• Chlamydia

Puppies are vaccinated at 8 and 10 weeks against:
• Distemper
• Canine viral hepatitis
• Leptospirosis
• Parvovirus
• Kennel cough
• Rabies.

Once your pet has had its first vaccinations, yearly boosters are needed to keep its immunity against these diseases.

Neutering your pet:

Unless you plan to breed from your pet, we encourage you to have them neutered at 6 months of age to help address the overpopulation of unwanted pets. Neutering also reduces associated health problems such as testicular tumours or prostate gland problems in males and pyometras (infection in the uterus) or mammary gland tumours in females. Once or if your pet has been neutered you may wish to put them onto a low calorie diet to prevent weight gain as they are prone to this once neutered. This can all be discussed with your vet or vet nurse.
